Elche achieves a surprising victory over Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Ivo Grbic made a huge mistake to cost his team a 1-0 loss against bottom club Elche in the Spanish Premier League today, Sunday.

The Croatian goalkeeper, who replaced the injured Ian Oblak, failed to deal with a side throw and reached Elche’s Fidel Chavez, who scored in the empty goal in the 41st minute.

The result left Atletico third in the league with 69 points, two behind second-placed Real Madrid, who beat Getafe 1-0 on Saturday.

Barcelona leads the league with 82 points, and will have the opportunity to win the title for the 27th time, four rounds before the end, when it faces Espanyol today.
