Bayern Munich crushes Schalke … and is close to the league title

Bayern Munich crushed its struggling guest, Schalke 04, 6-0, thanks to a double by Serge Gnabry, to move away four points at the top of the German Football League and close to winning the title for the 11th time in a row today, Saturday.

Thomas Mueller, whose future with the team has been surrounded by uncertainty since the arrival of coach Thomas Tuchel in March, opened the scoring in the 21st minute, and eight minutes later Joshua Kimmich boosted Bayern’s advantage from a penalty kick.

Schalke didn’t do anything, and Bayern started the second half from where it ended before the break, while Gnabry scored in the 50th minute after a great effort from Joao Cancelo.

Gnabry made it 4-0 when he took advantage of a mistaken pass from the Schalke defense and raced towards the goal to fire from a one-on-one position in the 65th minute.

Substitute Matthijs Till added the second goal after a pass from Jamal Musiala, while Till passed the ball to Nosair Mazraoui, so the Moroccan defender scored his first goal with Bayern in the league.

Two rounds before the end, Bayern has 68 points, four ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who hosts rivals Borussia Monchengladbach later in the day.
