Diaz breaks the finals knot after it lasted 6 years

The Argentine coach of Al-Hilal team, Ramon Diaz, has hardly broken the knot that has stuck with him in the finals during the past six years.

Diaz led Al-Hilal to crown the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup after a marathon match against Al-Wehda team, which ended in a penalty shootout.

The 63-year-old coach did not win any final since he led Al-Hilal to crown the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup in 2017 at the expense of his Al-Ahly counterpart, by winning 3-2, until he won the title again at the expense of Al-Wehda.

Diaz led Al-Hilal in 2017 in the final of the AFC Champions League, but tied in the first leg with a goal for the same against Urawa, before being defeated with a clean goal in the second leg and losing the title.

He led Al-Ittihad in the 2018 Saudi Super Cup final against Al-Hilal, so Diaz lost the match with two goals to one, then left to coach the Emirati victory, but was defeated in the first two finals, the first Arab Gulf Cup and the second the President’s Cup in 2021.

The Argentine coach returned to lead Al-Hilal again; Where it lost the final of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup on penalties against Al-Fayhaa, then was defeated by Real Madrid of Spain in the Club World Cup final, before drawing in the first leg with Urawa with a goal for the same, and then being defeated in the second leg with a clean goal.
