Scotland snatches an important victory from Norway in the presence of Haaland
Lyndon Dykes and Kenny McClain scored near the end as Scotland came from behind to win 2-0 at host Norway in Group A of the European Football Championship qualifiers today, Saturday.
Scotland advanced to the top of the group with nine points, six ahead of Spain, which played a match less, while Norway’s balance stopped at one point in fourth place.
Cyprus plays Georgia in the same group later in the day.
Norway failed to create chances until it was awarded a penalty kick, which was successfully implemented by Erling Haaland, the Champions League winner with Manchester City last week, in the 61st minute.
Norway coach Stoll Solbakken paid the price for removing Haaland in the 84th minute.
Striker Dykes equalized in the 87th minute, and two minutes later he teamed up with substitute McLean, who sealed the win, leaving the Norwegian fans silent.
