“Scolari” takes over the training of Brazilian Atletico Mineiro
The former coach of the Brazilian national team, Luiz Felipe Scolari, decided to return from retirement, to agree to take over the coaching task of the Brazilian team, Atletico Mineiro, until December 2024, to succeed Argentine coach Eduardo Codete.
Earlier, the Brazilian network “Globo Sport” stated that Scolari closed the doors to Brazilian clubs, stressing that Saudi Arabia pays well.
The former samba coach indicated that he had received an offer from a club in the Middle East at the end of last May, without revealing the name of the club.
Scolari led Brazil to win the 2002 World Cup in Japan, and led Portugal to the 2004 European Championship final, which they lost to Greece.
Scolari won the Brazilian League and the Libertadores Cup with Gremio and Palmeiras, the Chinese Premier League and the AFC Champions League with Guangzhou Evergrande.
