Football fans are awaiting the start of the AFC U-17 Championship, Thursday evening in Thailand, and it will continue until July 2.

16 teams are participating in the tournament, which is being hosted by Thailand, divided into 4 groups, led by the U-17 national team.

The 16 teams are competing to win the championship title, or to reserve the first four places to qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023.

During the past 18 editions, 11 teams won the Asian junior title. Japan has the most number of wins with 3 titles in 1994, 2006 and 2018, followed by North Korea, China, South Korea, Oman and Saudi Arabia, each with two titles, while Iraq and Uzbekistan won the title once. Iran, Qatar and Thailand.

Al-Akhdar crowned the juniors with the Asian title for the first time in the tournament hosted by Qatar in 1985, while the Japanese national team was the last champions to be crowned in the competition in 2018.

The Qatar national team has a distinguished number in the history of its participation in the tournament. Despite winning once, it was the most present in the final matches, as it was a party to it in 6 copies, and 5 of them came in the runner-up position.

Japan came at the top of the ranking of the most participating teams in the tournament during 15 editions, followed by South Korea and China, who participated in 14 editions, then Iran, North Korea and Thailand, each with 11 participation, then Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Oman and Saudi Arabia, each with 10 participation.

“Abu Dhabi Sports” channels, as well as BN Sports channels, announced the transfer of all matches, including the matches of the Arab teams.

There are other ways to watch the tournament, by means of direct broadcasting of the AFC U-17 2023 matches, but all of them are not free.
