Croatia qualifies for the European Nations League final at the expense of the Netherlands

Croatia scored two goals in overtime to beat its host, the Netherlands, 4-2 in the semi-finals of the European Football League in Rotterdam today, Wednesday, and qualifies for the final next Sunday.

Croatia will meet the winner of the confrontation between Italy and Spain in Enschede in the second semi-final match tomorrow, Thursday.

Croatia is seeking to win its first major title after continuing its brilliance from the World Cup in Qatar last year when it finished third.

Substitute Bruno Petkovic fired a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area eight minutes into extra time, putting Croatia ahead 3-2 before captain Luka Modric sealed victory with a late penalty, his country’s second of the match.

The Dutch national team, which hosts the tournament, which includes four teams, forced its guest to go into extra time when Noah Lang scored a goal in the last moments of the match to equalize 2-2, despite his superiority to a large extent in front of his fans at Feyenoord.
