Fatima Samoura, Secretary General of FIFA, will leave her position at the end of 2023

FIFA announced today, Wednesday, that Fatima Samoura, Secretary General of the Federation, will leave her post at the end of this year, after seven years during which she played a pivotal role in restoring the federation’s credibility.

“It was the best decision of my life to join FIFA,” Samoura, who was born in Senegal, said in a statement on FIFA’s website. “I am very proud to lead such a diverse team.”

They added, “My first word of thanks goes to Gianni Infantino for giving me this dream job. He has shown trust, understanding and an incredible level of support.”

And she continued, “FIFA today is a better managed, more open, reliable and transparent institution. I will leave FIFA with a feeling of pride and accomplishment.”
