King’s Cup: Al-Wehda is looking forward to winning the third… and Al-Hilal to save its season
On Friday, the eyes of football fans are directed towards King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, “The Radiant Jewel”, where Al-Wehda and Al-Hilal will face Al-Wahda and Al-Hilal in the final of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup 2022-2023.
Al-Hilal will enter the King’s Cup final as a preferred candidate against the struggling Al-Wehda, on Friday, despite losing its title in the AFC Champions League, and diminishing its chance of retaining the local league title.
Al-Hilal qualified for this final for the 18th time in its history, after defeating Al-Ettifaq (4-0) in the final price, and Al-Fateh (3-1) in the quarter-finals, then defeated Al-Ittihad with an unanswered goal in the semi-finals.
On the other hand, Al-Wehda qualified for the final for the eighth time in its history, and aspires to the third title from this cup, after achieving it twice in the years: 1957 AD and 1966 AD, especially since its qualification this time came after it defeated Damak 1-0 in the final price, then Al-Batin 2- 1 in the quarter-finals, before earning Al-Nassr 1-0 in the semi-finals.
In this final, Al-Hilal seeks to achieve its tenth title in the tournament, to become the second most crowned club in this competition after Al-Ahly club with 13 titles, and to achieve its first title this season after losing the Asian title recently to Urawa, Japan.
While Al-Wahda aspires to restore its glories by winning this precious cup, of which it had achieved the first edition in 1957.
