The president of the Brazilian Confederation is likely to wait until 2024 to sign Ancelotti

The President of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ednaldo Rodriguez, said today, Tuesday, that he expects to meet with Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid coach, or his representatives, in order to discuss the possibility of appointing him as coach of his country.

Ancelotti announced that he would continue with Real Madrid until the end of his contract next year, despite Brazil’s interest, but Rodriguez did not rule out waiting until July 2024.

“In this case (waiting until 2024), I will not take an individual decision and will have to listen to the advice of the federation members and players,” he said at a press conference in Madrid to launch a joint campaign with the Spanish Football Federation to combat racism.

He added, “The decision must be consistent with the players’ thinking and desire, and we will discuss this in the future,” adding: “We have a clear goal (to sign Ancelotti) and we are chasing this goal.”

And he continued his speech: “I will stay in Spain until June 18, and we will hold two meetings. I cannot say that Ancelotti will be present, but we hope to return to Brazil with a clearer message about his position.”

“We see that he is one of the best coaches in the world,” Rodriguez told the press conference. “Not only is he a victorious personality, but he is the perfect person for the vast majority of players.”

Brazil, which has won the World Cup five times, has not linked up with any coach after Tite resigned after being knocked out in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup last December.
