A study warns of artificial intelligence impersonating the dead

A legal study sounded the alarm about reconfiguring the shape or voice of the dead through artificial intelligence applications, so that their relatives would not be exposed to extortion from others in the future.

The study, conducted by the Aston College of Law at Queen’s University Belfast and the College of Law at the University of Newcastle in Britain, warned of the possibility of using the so-called “automated ghost” to recreate the shape, voice, or even personal characteristics of dead individuals, whether through artificial intelligence chat applications, holograms, or fake videos. the deep.

The study called for the addition of a “Do not clone me automatically” clause to the wills that people write before their death in order for their heirs to make sure that they will not be subjected to blackmail by people who were able to clone a digital image of their relative using artificial intelligence.

The study found that the digital materials that people leave during their lives, especially on social media platforms, will make it easy to reproduce their personalities digitally after their death using artificial intelligence, especially since current laws do not deal with such practices.
