The Public Health Authority “Prevention” has identified the initial symptoms that may appear in humans after infection with brucellosis, which usually affects cattle and dogs.
The authority stated that the symptoms of infection may appear within a period ranging from a few days to a few months, and include: loss of appetite, fever, pain in the muscles, joints or back, in addition to sweating, headache and fatigue.
Maltese fever is a bacterial disease caused by different types of brucellosis bacteria that infect cattle and dogs. People may contract the disease when they come into contact with infected animals or eat their products such as milk and cheese.
