Argentine star Lionel Messi settled the controversy surrounding his new team, officially announcing his transfer to Inter Miami.
Messi said, in exclusive statements to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, published this evening, Wednesday, that he decided to play with Inter Miami next season.
The last hours witnessed a radical shift regarding the new destination of the Argentine star, “Lionel Messi”, who was about to officially move to Al Hilal, before an American club presented an unprecedented fairy show in football stadiums.
And Inter Miami provided privileges that were not previously provided to the player in the history of football, and perhaps in the history of sports in general.
According to The Athletic, Inter Miami, owned by former English soccer star David Beckham, entered into a deal to acquire Messi’s services, backed by one of the world’s largest companies, Apple and Adidas.
The newspaper pointed out that Adidas, one of the largest sponsors of the American League, submitted a proposal to conclude a profit-sharing agreement with Messi, which means that the Argentine star will receive a percentage of any increase in profits resulting from his participation in the American League.
In return, Apple discussed Messi taking a share of the profits from new subscriptions to the MLS broadcast package on Apple TV, knowing that the giant company last year signed a deal to broadcast the MLS worth $ 2.5 billion.
It is also expected that the MLS will offer Messi to invest by buying a share of an American club when he retires from football, which is reinforced by the statements of MLS Commissioner Don Garber, who said that the league is doing everything possible to help Miami close the deal.
