The Minister of Sports, Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, revealed that the Public Investment Fund’s acquisition of the four clubs from the Roshan League, and their conversion to companies owned by the Fund, came due to the appreciation of investment opportunities in them.
The Minister of Sports said in statements to the “Action with Walid” program: “The selection of the four clubs was based on the Investment Fund’s assessment of the market value of these clubs and the opportunities to invest in them, especially since they have the largest number of fans, and found that their value can be worked on in order to increase commercial revenues.”
Al-Faisal added: “Now the ownership of the four clubs, each club, will be transferred to a company affiliated with the Fund, and this company in which the fund owns 75%, and the non-profit organization owns 25%.”
And he continued: “The 25% are represented by members of the General Assembly from among the club’s members in the current period, and anyone who wants support can provide support, and two are nominated from the non-profit organization, one of whom is the chairman of the company’s board of directors and the second is a member, and 5 from the investment fund, and thus the company’s board of directors is formed.” And administrative matters will be taken over by the members of the Board of Directors.
