6 professions are more likely to contract brucellosis, and these are ways to prevent it
The Public Health Authority (Prevention) has identified the professions most at risk of contracting brucellosis, pointing to the most important ways to prevent the disease, which is transmitted to humans as a result of contact with infected animals.
The authority stated that among the professions most exposed to the disease are veterinarians, dairy farmers, livestock breeders, slaughterhouse workers, shepherds, laboratory workers, and everyone who deals with infected animals or touches their blood.
She stressed that not eating undercooked meat and unpasteurized dairy products is one of the most important ways to prevent infection with brucellosis, and that those dealing with animal tissues must wear aprons (clothes), gowns, protective glasses and rubber gloves.
