Officially.. Australian Postecoglou takes charge of Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur announced on Tuesday the appointment of former Celtic coach Ange Postecoglou as technical director.
“Ange will bring a positive mentality, attacking style and speed of play,” Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said in a statement.
He added, “He has a great record in developing players and realizing the importance of communicating with the academy and everything is important for our club. We are excited about Anji joining us as we prepare for next season.”
The 57-year-old coach, who led Celtic to win three domestic titles this season, will assume his new position as permanent coach, succeeding coach Antonio Conte.
After Conte’s departure in March, Christian Stellini and then Ryan Mason temporarily took over at the London club.
The Italian Conte had coached Tottenham in 2021, but he became the seventh coach to fail to end the club’s fasting for titles in the last 15 years. Tottenham crowned their last title when they won the League Cup in 2008.
Tottenham finished eighth in the Premier League after a disappointing run, failing to qualify for a European tournament for the first time since the 2009-2010 season.
