Hockey .. an Olympic sport enters the interests of the Saudis

A major sporting renaissance has been taking place in the Kingdom recently in various individual and team games, and not only does it stop developing well-known games, but there has been a desire to open horizons for other sports that did not receive public interest in the past.

Hockey is one of the games that has attracted a lot of attention recently, and the decision to establish the Saudi Hockey Federation – the famous Olympic game – came in late 2019, according to Nof Al-Dosari, a member of the Board of Directors of the Hockey Federation.

And a member of the Board of Directors of the Hockey Federation, Nouf Al-Dosari, revealed the broad lines that the game system is following in the Kingdom in order to push it forward and develop it.

A member of the Board of Directors of the Hockey Federation said in statements to “Sport 24”: “We have two types of ice and ground hockey, and we are currently working on ground hockey, whose federation was established in 2019, and from this date until today we have been spreading the game in terms of awareness and training of coaches.”

She added: “Camps are being set up, and we target cubs, children and women, as well as young people of all age groups. Praise be to God, there has been a great demand for the game, until we have the first Saudi team in the capital, Riyadh.”

And she continued her speech: “Our goal is to expand at the level of the Kingdom, and we now have Saudi players in the game in Jeddah, and some other regions,” adding: “This year we held the first Gulf Hockey Championship in Riyadh, and it was beautiful and successful, and its echoes were positive, praise be to God.”

And she continued: “Our goal is to hold championships in which all players will be Saudis who participate in the camps with us, whether they are young men or women.” the correct”.

A member of the Board of Directors of the Hockey Federation indicated that the game system is proceeding according to a specific strategy, and the goals set by the federation are being achieved.

Hockey player, Mohammed Al-Mulla, thanked the Saudi Federation for the game, for organizing the seventh Open Hockey Championship in Jeddah, adding that the next will be better, inviting all interested to join the game.

He explained that the first tournament in Jeddah was different and all the players enjoyed it, and that they achieved a good position because it was their first participation

For his part, hockey player Zayed Al-Shehri said that he thanks the Football Federation for organizing the wonderful tournament, pointing out that hockey is a beautiful game and he aspires to be the best in the future, and that he hopes to form a team of Saudis in Jeddah.

It is noteworthy that the Saudi Hockey Federation organized the seventh open championship, which was held in the city of Jeddah at Al-Ahly Club, starting from Thursday, June 1 until Friday, June 2, with the participation of many players.
