Monica Stapp reveals to FIFA her journey with women’s football in the Kingdom
FIFA shed light on the experience of Monica Stapp, former coach and current coach of the Saudi women’s national team.
The FIFA website indicated that the Saudi women’s national team achieved an unprecedented achievement last March when it entered the FIFA/Coca-Cola world ranking list and ranked 171, and immediately set its sights on an ambitious goal, which is to ensure qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup competitions.
“It was an amazing journey when I assumed the task of coaching the national team. I was part of history, in the first international match of the FIFA classification that the Saudi women’s team played in the Maldives against Seychelles,” said Stapp of her experience.
And she added, “And we managed to win! It was great to see those girls playing. We received 800 requests to join the national team, and in the end we selected 35 .. The search for the best players was a long journey .. I think that going to the Maldives was the best moment in my life The 25 players who traveled there.”
The FIFA website stated that before Stab traveled to the Kingdom, it had stations around the world, as it helped develop women’s football in more than 85 countries.
And this veteran coach believes that the development of the charming round in Saudi Arabia will have an impact much wider than the borders of the country.
The German expert explained: “This will have an impact on all Arab and Islamic countries around the world. This shows that the matter is achievable.”
She added, “We go around the world and show that football is possible in this part of the world. It’s a good example for everyone. I feel like we are now a role model for a lot of developing countries.
