Due to the death of a fan, a match in the Argentine league was suspended

The referee of the River Plate and Defensa y Justicia match in the Argentine league decided to stop it after only 25 minutes from the start, following the death of a fan after he fell from the upper stand of the stadium.

The Argentine newspaper “Olé” stated that a 53-year-old fan fell from the stand after a quarter of an hour had passed.

And she indicated that after the referee of the meeting learned about the matter after 10 minutes had passed, he decided to stop the match, to be completed at a later time, in agreement with the technical directors and captains of the two teams.

And River Plate club published an official statement, during which it confirmed: “A fan fell into the void of the Sivori Alta stand and died instantly.”

He pointed out that the capacity of the runway was 90% full at the time of the fall of the fan, pointing out that at the time of the fall there was no interference by third parties.

And he concluded: “The runway was closed for 24 hours to obtain evidence, and the club decided to sweep the flag and declare mourning for one day.”
