During the cup final…the “97” slogan caused the arrest of a fan in England
British police announced the arrest of a fan because of a slogan printed on the back of his shirt bearing the number (97) during the FA Cup final match between Manchester United and Manchester City.
The slogan refers to the 97 Liverpool fans who lost their lives in the Hillsborough stampede disaster in the 1989 FA Cup semi-final.
British police confirmed that they had detained the fan on suspicion of committing a public security offense, noting that they were reviewing surveillance camera footage after a projectile was thrown at a Manchester United player in the first half.
