Boca Juniors excludes one of its players due to accusations of assaulting his girlfriend
Boca Juniors, the Argentine football club, excluded its Colombian player, Sebastian Villa, after he was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Daniela Cortes.
A court sentenced the 27-year-old Colombian national team player to two years and one month in prison, suspended because the sentence was less than three years.
Boca said in a statement: “From now on (VIA) will not participate in first-team football matches.”
Boca added that the club’s management approved the decision unanimously, and it will be applied until the end of the appeal in the courts.
A court in Argentina convicted the player of “coercive threats with minor injuries in the context of violence against women” regarding an incident reported by his ex-girlfriend in 2020.
