Arqaam Sport 24 .. The Gulf faces Abha with its eye on the gift of agreement and unity
Al-Khaleej will meet its guest, Abha, on Wednesday, at the end of the Roshen Professional League matches, “Round 30”, at Prince Muhammad bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam.
The Gulf enters the meeting holding on to its meager chances to survive, as it must win and wait for the outcome of the two matches of justice with Al-Itifaq and Al-Wahda with Al-Fayhaa.
Al-Khaleej is in the fifteenth place, “the relegation center”, with 28 points, with a difference in direct confrontations, behind Al-Adalah, “the fourteenth”, and a difference of two points from Al-Fayhaa, who is in the thirteenth place.
It will not be enough for the Gulf to win against Abha if Al-Adala and Al-Fayhaa win, as one of them must falter in order for the Gulf to ensure survival among the greats.
The Gulf may suffice for the break-even point in order to survive, but this is conditional on the loss of justice in the face of the agreement.
Sport 24 reads the numbers of the two teams before the second confrontation between them in the Professional League, as the two teams recorded their first confrontation in the first round when Abha won 2-0.
Al-Khaleej lost the first two matches against Asir clubs in the Professional League, but won the last match against Dhamak 2-0 last February.
On the other hand, Abha kept clean sheets in 7 of the last 10 matches against the promoted teams in the Professional League, winning 6 and drawing two matches against losing twice – among the rising teams this season, Abha lost only against Al-Wehda, while achieving 3 victories against Al-Adala 2 and Al-Khaleej 1.
Abha achieved a single victory in its final matches in the Professional League, and this victory was in its first season in the competition 2008-09 and it was achieved against Al-Shabab 2-1. On the other hand, Al-Khaleej did not conclude its matches in the Professional League with a victory, as it tied in 2014-15 and lost in 2015-16 and 2016- 17.
The Gulf enters the match having the highest number of home victories during one season in the competition (5 wins), but it is also equal in the number of defeats it received at home during one season in the history of the competition (7 defeats).
The Gulf is counting on its player Fabio Martinez, who comes as the team’s fourth top scorer in its history in the Professional League with 7 goals, despite his transfer to the team last January, and is also counting on its current top scorer, Sokol Schillaci, who has ten goals.
