Mauro Icardi scored twice and Barış Alber Yilmaz and Sergio Oliveira added two more as giants Galatasaray clinched their 23rd Turkish Ligue 1 title with a 4-1 win over Ankara Jocu in the penultimate game of the season on Tuesday.

The team, which is based in Istanbul, achieved the league title for the first time since the 2018-2019 season, and is in the ranks of the Turkish club, the former Al Hilal professional, the French Pavitimbi Gomez.

Icardi gave Galatasaray the lead after seven minutes but striker Melson equalized for Ankara Jogo nine minutes later before the Argentine forward scored his second goal five minutes before the break.

Yilmaz added the third goal to Galatasaray in the 73rd minute, and Sergio Oliveira ensured victory for his team, after scoring the fourth goal five minutes later.

Galatasaray raised its tally to 82 points, five points ahead of Fenerbahce, second in the standings.
