For the fourth time in a row, Mbappe is the best player in the French League
Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe won the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award for the fourth time in a row, after helping the capital team achieve the title for the 11th time and the record-breaking record.
The French star became the first player to win the award four times, breaking the record he shared with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“I would like to thank the players, the staff and all the people who work in the shadows,” Mbappe, 24, said.
He added, “I always want to leave a mark. I did not expect to win so many times at a very early stage in my career, so I am happy to make history in my country.”
Mbappe’s contract with Saint-Germain runs until 2024, with an option to extend for an additional year.
Saint-Germain was crowned the league title with one match left in the season, following its 1-1 draw with Strasbourg on Saturday.
Frank Eze was named coach of the season after leading Lens to second place and qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 21 years.
“It is a story of three seasons, for everyone who is no longer in this adventure…I do not forget you. What you have achieved with us is unforgettable,” said Eze, who led the first team to Lance when it was in the second division in 2020.
Lance has four players in the perfect squad for the season, they are Bryce Samba, defender Kevin Danso, midfielder Siko Fofana and striker Luis Obanda, and Samba won the best goalkeeper award.
Saint-Germain also has four players in the squad, and they are Mbappe and Lionel Messi in the attack, along with the full-backs Nuno Mendez and Ashraf Hakimi.
