Brentford fails to qualify for the Conference League despite beating City

Ethan Pinnock scored a late goal to give Brentford a 1-0 victory over champions Manchester City at the end of the English Premier League today, Sunday.

Despite the victory, Brentford failed to reach the European Conference League, as it settled for ninth place.

Pennock scored after a pass from Brian Mbemo five minutes from time.

City striker Erling Haaland did not participate, while Kevin De Bruyne was left out of the match squad.

Coach Pep Guardiola’s team failed to create chances to score, but almost snatched a draw in stoppage time.

Cole Palmer twice hit Pennock and Ben Mee cleared City’s attack from the line as Brentford became the only side to beat City on and off the field this season.
