Fahd bin Jalawi witnesses the celebration of the half-century anniversary of the founding of the Taekwondo Federation
Prince Fahd bin Jalawi, Vice-President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and on behalf of Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Chairman of the Committee, witnessed the ceremony of the International Taekwondo Federation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its founding, in the presence of the President of the International Taekwondo Federation, Dr. Shongguan Shaw, and the President of the Saudi Federation for the game, Brigadier Shaddad Al-Omari, in the Center Heydar Aliyev in the Republic of Azerbaijan, which is hosting the World Taekwondo Championship for adults, which started today with the participation of the Saudi national team.
It is noteworthy that the relationship between the Saudi and Taekwondo federations extends for more than 47 years and witnessed many Saudi achievements in this sport, most notably the player Ibrahim Jaafar’s winning the bronze medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, then the player Muhammad Al-Suwaiq winning the world gold for juniors in 2017 AD, and then the achievement The first is for women, with the player Donia Abu Talib winning the bronze medal in the World Taekwondo Championship 2022 AD, and in the same year the Saudi Taekwondo Federation won the award for the best federation in the world presented by the International Taekwondo Federation.
