Coach Nuno Espirito Santo refused to settle his future with Al-Ittihad after he led him to crown the Saudi Professional Football League title for the first time since 2009 today, Saturday.

Many news reports indicated that there were European offers for the Portuguese coach and the possibility of his departure from the federation next season.

Al-Ittihad won the title one round before the end of the competition, after winning 3-0 against Al-Fayhaa outside its stadium, and the Portuguese coach became the beloved of the “Al-Ameed” fans after achieving a long-awaited title after the team was struggling to escape relegation in previous seasons.

But the former Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Porto coach added uncertainty about his future, amid rumors about his departure after one season in Saudi Arabia.

Nuno Santo said in statements to SSC: “I live day by day. Today is a celebration and tomorrow is a holiday. Then we will prepare for the next match with the same commitment and discipline, and I focus on this only.”

He added, “I congratulate everyone, the players, the fans and the equipment. The fans are the source of our strength, whether in Jeddah or abroad, and I thank them very much. The season was difficult and we worked hard from the first day.”

He continued, “We faced many problems and the absence of prominent elements, and it was necessary to work closely together to excel in a fierce competition that extended to the last breath. All the league teams are good and we faced pressure until the end.”

And he continued, “The players responded in a wonderful way, and today we did not just achieve a victory, but it came with a great performance,” adding: “Work and organization are among the foundations that cannot be discussed, and today we took the last step, and I am very happy.”
