The resignation of the President of the French Olympic Committee a year before the Paris Olympics
The French Olympic Committee announced today, Thursday, that its president, Brigitte Enriques, has resigned from her post, almost a year before it is scheduled to host the Paris 2024 summer games.
The committee said in a statement: “At the opening of the General Assembly today, Brigitte Enriques announced her decision to resign from the presidency of the National Committee.”
The Olympic Games will begin in Paris on July 26 and end on August 11 next year. Enriques has called on the IOC to open an internal investigation into the French committee in the midst of a long-running dispute with former general secretary Didier Simennier.
She returned to her post last December after a two-month sick leave after accusing Semeneh of “psychological violence”. Simene denied all allegations and sued Enriques for defamation.
It is noteworthy that the French Olympic Committee is not affiliated with the organizing committee for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
