Chelsea interim coach Frank Lampard said today, Wednesday, that he is confident that the team will return stronger next season after a sad season in the English Premier League.

Chelsea, who are 12th in the standings with 43 points, play fourth-placed Manchester United, who are bidding for a place in the Champions League, on Thursday.

Chelsea, who won the Champions League in 2021, will end this season without trophies despite the massive spending of their new American owners to sign players.

“There’s a lot that needs to be done to get away from the bottom we’ve reached,” Lampard told reporters. “The club has to explore all the factors (that led to this) and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

“It can be a long process… According to my experience, when you turn something off, it’s not easy to turn it back on,” he added. However, Lampard is optimistic that Chelsea have the right structures in place to do so.

Lampard said: “When you look at the good models around us that enjoy consistency in those areas … and the decision-making process and how the club moves forward, you will find that in general they are more successful clubs than us.”
