The Arab Gulf Cup Football Association announced today, Wednesday, that the general assembly held in Doha approved Kuwait’s hosting of the Gulf Cup 26 in December 2024.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association, who today retained the presidency of the Arab Gulf Cup Federation by acclamation, said that the regional federation, which includes eight countries, “decided to hold the Gulf championship that began in 1970 in December 2024 in Kuwait.”

He added, “A month was given to the Gulf federations to apply to be an alternative to Kuwait in the event that it is not possible to establish them there.”

The Arab Gulf Cup Federation had previously said that choosing the date of the tournament was to avoid conflicts with the Asian Cup.

Qatar won the right to host the next edition of the Asian Cup, after China apologized for reasons related to combating the Corona virus.

Qatar will host the Asian Cup from January 12 to February 10, 2024.

Kuwait, whose national team tops the list of Gulf Cup winners with ten titles, is preparing to organize the tournament for the fifth time.
