Fenerbahce denounces the investigation with its player, claiming that he “spitted” on Trezeguet

Today, Tuesday, Fenerbahçe objected to the transfer of its player Samit Akaydin to the Disciplinary Committee of the Turkish Football Federation, for spitting on the Egyptian player Mahmoud Hassan (Trezeguet) while the latter was prostrating on the field after scoring a goal in the match that his team Trabzonspor lost in the Turkish Football League.

Pictures and video clips on social media showed Akaidin spitting towards Trezeguet, who scored his team’s only goal ten minutes from the end, in the match that ended with Fenerbahce’s 3-1 victory last Thursday.

Fenerbahce said in a statement today via Twitter: “The legal decision of the Turkish Football Federation cannot be accepted.

And he continued, “It is a historic event that the Turkish Federation decided to refer our player, Samet Akaydin, to the Disciplinary Committee… It was clearly proven that he did nothing by referring to the video footage. This is scandalous.”

He added, “This incident was not included in the (referee’s) match report, and it is a slander by the public, but it clarifies the Turkish Football Association’s view of Fenerbahce.”

And he added: “The club calls on every official working under the umbrella of the Turkish Federation, especially in the Disciplinary Committee, which signed this decision, to resolve the matter immediately.”

Akaydin denied committing this alleged act, and wrote on Twitter earlier, “I condemn the immoral allegations by manipulating my behavior, and this is behavior that happens with athletes.”

Trabzon said on his Facebook account after the incident, “This is disgusting. We strongly condemn the inhuman act against our player Trezeguet during the Fenerbahce match on May 18.”

“It is disgusting that Fenerbahçe’s Samet Akaydin spat on our player while he was prostrating in celebration of the goal,” he added.

Trabzon occupies sixth place in the league and has 51 points, and Fenerbahce comes in second place, five points away from leaders Galatasaray.
