A shocking opinion from a technical expert about the capabilities of GPT chat

The researcher and expert in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence, Rodney Brooks, believes that the capabilities of ChatGPT tools are overestimated by some.

These tools are dumber than some realize, Brooks said, and far from being able to compete with humans in any given task on an intellectual level.

He noted that the current macro-language models cannot logically infer the meaning, although they follow the approach of exporting the illusion that they are capable of doing so, indicating that what the macro-language models are good at is saying what the answer should look like.

He pointed out that what language models do does not apply to human intelligence, as they do not interact, but search for an answer, and that future versions of artificial intelligence technology will not reach the level of general artificial intelligence that competes with human intelligence.
