Newcastle coach Eddie Howe expressed his happiness after his team booked a seat in the next edition of the Champions League, after a draw with Leicester City.
Eddie Howe said on Sky Sports: “This season was great, but we didn’t win any championships and we want to achieve championships in the future.”
“Regardless of your work, we must play for the fans before ourselves. We want to make the fans proud in every game. They have supported us unbelievably,” he added.
And he continued, “I try to remember my career .. Not relegating with Bournemouth was a great achievement as well, but it is different with Newcastle, the pressures are greater .. I am really happy for this opportunity and training this wonderful team.”
Newcastle secured a seat in the next edition of the Champions League after a 0-0 draw with Leicester City in the 37th (penultimate) round of the English Premier League.
With this result, Newcastle raised its score to 70 points in third place and ended the hopes of fifth-placed Liverpool, with 66 points, to qualify for the Champions League before the 38th (last) round.
Newcastle succeeded in qualifying for the Champions League after the Saudi Investment Fund acquired ownership of the club.
