Real Sociedad spoiled Barcelona’s celebrations of the La Liga title among its fans, after beating its host 2-1 at Camp Nou today, Saturday.
Coach Xabi Hernandez’s team was crowned the title for the 27th time, four rounds from the end, after its 4-2 victory over its neighbor Espanyol last week.
Sociedad opened the scoring early five minutes later through Mikel Merino in the fifth minute, and Alexander Sorloth strengthened the visitors’ advantage in the 72nd minute.
Robert Lewandowski scored an honorary goal for Barcelona in the last breath, reinforcing his lead in the competition’s top scorer list with 22 goals.
Sociedad strengthened its position in fourth place, with 65 points from 35 matches.
After the match ended, Barcelona stars celebrated the La Liga title, and captain Sergio Busquets received the league shield.
