Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Federation of Motors and Motorcycles, Chairman of the Saudi Motorsports Company, praised the great turnout witnessed by the Tabuk Rally – NEOM – from the participants in the second round of the Saudi Toyota Desert Rally Championship season 2023, which is organized by the federation. Al-Faisal said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency after his inauguration – yesterday – of the rally activities in King Khalid Sports City: We are happy that this version will be held in the distinguished Tabuk region, which we saw in more than a year in the Dakar Rally, and this is a large and distinguished stage with its distances and terrain, and we saw a great turnout. There are many international racers to participate in this version, which will reflect positively on the importance of rallying in the Kingdom, stressing that this round will have the desired return, which will give local racers the opportunity to develop their capabilities and participate in such rallies, for which the Kingdom has become a destination for various international car races.
He praised the great achievements made during the reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Highness the Trustworthy Crown Prince – may God protect them – in various fields, including sports, as well as the support and empowerment of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Minister of Sports for the federation and his direct supervision of the events. At the end of a statement to SPA, he expressed his thanks to His Royal Highness Prince Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Tabuk Region, for his unlimited support and harnessing all capabilities to serve the rally and its competitors.
It is noteworthy that the first round of the race started with the exhibition stage, in which more than 23 cars, 12 motorcycles and three four-wheeled motorcycles “Quads” participated, after their drivers passed the stages of technical examination and administrative documentation. Saudi driver Yazid Al-Rajhi and Emirati rider Sultan Al-Balooshi and Saudi Haitham Al-Tuwaijri set the fastest times.
